Healthcare is a Human Right: Eaddy v. Noel

In 2018, Amistad Law Project, Abolitionist Law Center, and attorney Carey Shenkman filed suit against the Department of Corrections on behalf of Lester Eaddy, demanding that he receive direct-acting antiviral treatment (DAA) for his Hepatitis C, as is the standard of care in the community. In 2019, the DOC acquiesced and started to give Mr. Eaddy the appropriate care. The case was settled and voluntarily dismissed once Mr. Eaddy received his treatments.
