Join Us for the Premiere of THE MAN WHO CAME HOME

When Francisco Mojica was sentenced to Death By Incarceration, his wife made him a promise: she would wait for him as long as it took. Thirty years later, he overcame his DBI sentence through commutation and was reunited with the love of his life in North Philadelphia. THE MAN WHO CAME HOME traces the story of a young Puerto Rican immigrant finding his way on the streets of Kensington, through three decades in prison, to a devout family man caring for his wife as they age. Mojica’s story captures the cruelty of DBI sentences and highlights the human cost of mass incarceration. Through one man’s story, we get a window into the kinds of people our society has locked up—people who will die behind prison walls if we don’t make a change.
Join us for the premiere of THE MAN WHO CAME HOME at the Free Library of Philadelphia on Wednesday, August 27. Doors will open at 6:00 PM and the screening will start promptly at 6:30 PM.
After the screening, we will have a panel discussion on the movement to end Death By Incarceration in Pennsylvania. The panel will be moderated by PA State Rep. Rick Krajewski, and he'll be joined by the film's star, Francisco Mojica, and Sean Damon, Director of Strategic Partnerships at Straight Ahead.
The event will be in the auditorium of the Parkway Central location of the Free Library (1901 Vine St.). The auditorium is on the basement level, accessible by elevator.
We are excited to partner with Straight Ahead for this event, where we’ll update you on the state of second chance legislation in Pennsylvania and share ways for you to get involved in the fight for freedom for folks sentenced to die in PA prisons.
